Katherine Winterstein - Violin
Violinist Katherine Winterstein’s musical roles include chamber musician, orchestral musician, soloist and teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Eastman School and a Master’s Degree from Boston University. Praised by critics for “livewire intensity” andfor both “delightfully effective” and “memorably demonic” playing, she has performed on Washington DC’s Embassy Series, Boston’s Ashmont Hill Chamber Music Series, the Staunton Music Festival and the McIntire Chamber Music Series at the University of Virginia. She has appeared as soloist with the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, the Champlain Philharmonic, the Boston Virtuosi and the Vermont Symphony of which she is concertmaster. She is also the assistant concertmaster of the Portland Symphony and performs regularly with the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Baroque and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. On the Middlebury College performance faculty since 2002, she joined the Hartt School of Music faculty in September of 2011. This is her 11th summer with the Craftsbury Chamber Players.
